This year, the team has gone through several firsts throughout their season, their biggest being their first ever appearance and the Natinoals Tournament. On opening night, however, the team had an even bigger surprise during the opening ceremony. This year, Coach Caleb Wug was selected as the 2023 National D1 Coach of the Year. Upon receiving the award, Caleb was surprised of the nominations by not only the LA Tech Blue Team, but also by members of the LA Tech Red Team and even the ULM team.
The National's Committee informed Caleb of the highly-praised nominations that led them to the decision. They also took note of the growth that the club has had since its founding in 2019. The award was well-earned and showed gratitude for the dedication that Caleb has put in to club over the years. Louisiana Tech was estatic of the news and word quickly spread around campus of the achievement. Caleb was honored to have such a prestigious award granted to him and looks to use it as motivation going into the next season.
